You are my sunshine

It's hard to believe Amelia's 3rd birthday is just around the corner. She is such a colorful little girl, and makes Shane and I laugh daily with her antics. Amelia and Avery are so much fun, but also vastly different. Avery is grounded in the concrete, and Amelia is grounded in the imaginary. While I clean, she spends time playing with her dolls and reading them long, made-up stories. I always enjoy ease dropping. She enjoys sharing stories from preschool, some true and some not so true, it's the telling she loves. Amelia, like most girls, tends to be emotional and can cry at the drop of a hat - drama will always be a part of her life. Although Amelia shows signs of being sharp, clever and witty, I suspect academic work will come secondary to her social life, she loves being with other kids. Amelia is my girlie, girl, she loves girl stuff, and wants a purple horse for her birthday and lots of presents that include "princess" in the product title. Each morning she enjoys picking out a bow to wear in her hair; it makes her feel pretty, and would wear a dress everyday of the week if I let her. Predictably, pink is her favorite color, and she likes anything that sparkles or glitters. Oh what a delightful little girl our Amelia is - she is our sunshine.

Dino Dig

We were recently invited to the grand opening of the new exhibit, "Dinosaurs Unearthed", at the Witte Museum. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. Shane was thrilled to accompany the kids, knowing free breakfast burritos were included in the invitation. I stayed home with Audrey, but heard tales the moment Avery and Amelia stepped through the door. The highlight of the day included a pseudo dinosaur dig, where both kiddos unearthed a miniature dino toy. Avery named his "Rudy", watch Ice Age 3 and you will understand; Amelia just couldn't settle on a name she liked, indecisive.

Gerbil "Work"

A couple of weeks ago Avery came home telling us about his "gerbil work" at school. Shane and I asked a few more questions, hoping we would better understand what he meant by "gerbil work", but the more information we received the more confused we became. After settling in bed that same night, Shane and I looked at each other and said, "what the h*** is "gerbil work"?". The following day Avery brought home a book including colored pictures and a single word on each page describing the colored picture (tail, paw, whiskers....gerbil). I experienced an "ahh moment", I understood what Avery meant by "gerbil work". He had created a book about the various body parts of a gerbil. The following week he came home and told me about his "pillow work". Again, I asked him what he meant by "pillow work", and the more I asked the more perplexing the subject became. However, uncovering the meaning of "gerbil work" lead me to believe he was in the process of creating something that included a pillow. I thought maybe another book, maybe a drawing, maybe some more punch art; I was pleasantly surprised by the finished product shown in pictures below....who says boys can't sew;)

Audrey is 3 Months

If you can believe it, Audrey is 3 months old. She is a great baby! Currently she is very laid back and, for the most part, goes with the flow, which is exactly what we need. She loves the kiddos and enjoys individualized attention from big sis, when Avery is at school. I love listening to her coo and melt when she flashes one of her precious smiles. We are looking forward to the latest developments month 3 and 4 bring.

James's Birthday Party

Avery and Amelia attended James's birthday party a couple of weeks ago. James is a boy we have regular play dates with, and attending his Fiesta Fun Party was a treat for the month of February.

"So BIG"

Avery and Amelia were treated to a fun pony ride. Consequently, Amelia wants a horse for her birthday, a purple horse.
