Aggie's 5th Birthday

Aggie Rose just turned 5.  I still think of Aggie as my little toddler, and yet, when she plays with Audrey and her friends, she seems much older.  This little girl is a live wire adding spice and so much more to our everyday lives.  When I think of Aggie, I think of a true extravert.  I always know what's on her mind because she talks constantly about what she is thinking, feeling, and doing.  She is very open about her feelings and not afraid to tell us if she is happy, sad, mad, frustration, or upset.  She changes her mind often, but when it is set it is set.  When deciding what kind of birthday cake she wanted, she would change on a whim with whatever suggestion I mentioned until I mentioned carrot cake.  After that, there was no changing her mind; she wanted carrot cake.  On her birthday, the kiddos and I met in the kitchen to help make her requested cake.  Because she likes to be included in everything, Aggie was there to help every step of the way.  Aggie is our cherry at the top of the cake! 

Things I want to remember as Aggie transitions from 4 to 5.

1.  You love to play with other kiddos. If there is a kiddo in the room, not matter the age, you want to be where they are and doing what they are doing.

2.  Finn and you have a special relationship.  He understands he must tolerate your every whim, and you see Finn as your buddy.  He loves running with you at the park!

3.  We have a bedtime routine that includes, reading a book or two, having a drink of water, wrapping things up with snuggle time, and then 'I love you' salutations.  If we deviate from that routine, you call me back to make sure we don't miss a step.

4.  Most days you would prefer to wear shorts and a short sleeved shirt.  You reluctantly wear long sleeved shirts and pants for the colder months.

5.  Red meat is one of your favorite foods.  You get excited for steak, lamb, and hamburger.

6.  Climbing, swimming, and running are your favorite activities at the park.  The winter months are going to be long without trips to the park.

7.  This past year, dinosaurs have kind-of been your thing.  You play with them, read about them, and pretend you are one of them.

8.  Your best friend at CC is a boy named Brantly.  He is very tolerate of you, and allows you to lead the way.  Without him, CC wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

9.  The funniest things come out of your mouth. You make the entire family laugh constantly with your off hand comments.

10.  You often see yourself as the same age as your siblings.  At Audrey's recent slumber party, you invited yourself to all activities and requested to sleep with the girls.  If hanging with Amelia and Avery, you are not afraid to talk with their friends.

Audrey's Ear Piercing

Audrey's Santa gift was getting her ears pierced.  She was definitely nervous, but also determined to walk out of Claire's with earrings in her ears.  For earrings, she picked out a petite, darling cz pair.  It all happened rather quick, and Audrey almost had a stunned look on her face when the whole thing was done.  After seeing herself in the mirror, a big grin crawled across her face.  I could tell she was pleased with the outcome.  She came home announcing to big sis, who has yet to pierce her ears, that it was a little worse than getting a shot.  Amelia is now contemplating getting her ears pierced for her April birthday.  I am not holding my breath.     

 

Christmas Day

We woke up on Christmas morning with two girls sick.  Sadly, this meant we had to  forgo any plans with outside family members. Poor Amelia and Audrey came down stairs in the morning and then quickly retreated to bathrooms where they spent most of the morning and afternoon.  When they finally reemerged, they joined us for an early evening dinner, where Avery had made us fresh tortilla soup. Aggie could hardly wait to open presents, and was overjoyed when the girls announced they were well enough to do so.  After all the presents were opened, the older kiddos went upstarts to help Aggie set up her Barbie Dream House.  Once we got things cleaned up and Aggie to bed, we ended our night watching My Girl.
