Spring Break Trip

Mimi and Papa made a visit for spring break, and took Avery and Amelia on a little get away to Port Aransas!  Both Avery and Amelia have visited beaches before, but this is the first they are likely to remember.  We received reports that both kiddos had a wonderful time, were well behaved, and were truly captivated by the simple offerings of a beach ecosystem.  Thanks Mimi and Papa!

PRE-TRIP FUN!

Releasing our butterflies.

TRIP FUN!

Avery was brave enough to enter the water and attack the surf.  Amelia entered reluctantly and was soon ready for dry land.

Flag Football 2011

Avery just completed his first season of flag football and had a great season, including lots of fun.  He really enjoyed playing with this group of boys and loved his coach.  MSSA was lucky enough to be placed with a coach who has a gift for working with children.  He was creative, fun, and in tune with the needs of boys this age.  He taught them simple fundamentals, gave them guidance, and then let them play the game.  Coach Russell was a fabulous coach and Avery was sad when the season came to an end.  The best part was watching Avery’s improvement every game.  Gosh, we started off the season with Avery chasing every person with a flag, and ended the season with Avery making a game time, complete catch!  Way to go Avery!

When Pigs Fly

Yesterday I was at the bookstore making a purchase, when I overheard a woman say…..”It will snow in Texas the day I see pigs flying outside my window.” Well this morning she must have woke up to the sound of swine fluttering their wings because…..it snowed.

When my household woke up there was a distinct feeling of excitement and panic. Avery was excited because of the newly discovered snow, and Amelia was panicked because she was throwing up in her bed. I addressed Amelia’s needs first, completely unaware of Avery’s crazed state. However, I soon realized Avery was not in the house…he was outside. I hurried outside to find out what mischief my son might be engaging in and found this…..

Catching up!

For those of you that don't know, Shane is currently doing a four week rotation in Houston and is, therefore, not in San Antonio during the week, but is able to make it back home on the weekends…thank goodness. Not having help at some point during the weekday has left me feeling extra tired in the evenings. As a result, I haven't posted in a while, but am trying to catch up!

Amelia's 1st professional haircut!

Feeling beautiful!

Hitting the birthday circuit...princess style!
The invited guests were able to choose a costume from a very long rack of princess dresses and knight uniforms. After Cinderella's grand entrance to the party, Amelia quickly grabbed the mini-me version of the same dress and became Cinderella's shadow for the remainder of the party.

Can you spy Amelia glued to Cinderella's side?

Dining out at the "Magic Time Machine."

The "Magic Time Machine" is a restaurant I remember visiting while vacationing with my family in high school.  When Shane and I moved to San Antonio I quickly spied this restaurant while running errands, and knew someday we would make a visit to this memorable place.  That "someday" presented itself last weekend when a change of scenery was definitely needed....and a change of scenery is just what the kids got.  In fact, Audrey wasn't sure what to think of the "Joker" and "Marilyn Monroe".....check out the picture below.

You can't tell by the picture, but Avery and Ameilia's drinks were both smoking with dry ice...very cool for a 3 and 5 year old.

Popcorn!

Popcorn stuck to Audrey's face after suffering from a runny nose.

Flag Football!

Avery spent most of his time chasing anybody with a flag rather than the person carrying the football, whether Avery was on defense or offense...we have a long way to go...HA!

My youngest LOVES playing with Desitin!
