The kids have been having sooo much fun playing beauty parlor that anytime a special guest arrives they receive "the works!"

Rain + Hot Chocolate

There is a change in weather and the kids have been dying for hot chocolate.

  

Today I caved. 

So it was hot chocolate for lunch! 

Halloween 2014 - The Scooby Gang

I would love to say that my kids are always inspired by history, books, movies, and pop culture to come up with a creative costume idea for Halloween.  However, this is not always the case.  And when my girls insist on being another fairy or princess and my Star Wars obsessed son can only think of a costume he has seen featured on some Star Wars product, I take it as my cue to brainstorm a family costume idea, purely for the sake of attempting to role model creativity, team work, and family inclusion.  So this year our family went as the Scooby Gang.  What can I say, it was fun.  Well, fun for most.  Poor Amelia was sick the day before Halloween and not feeling a whole lot better on Halloween.  As a kid there are several days that "being sick" is remembered for a life-time and Halloween happens to be one of those days.  Amelia made no attempts at actual trick-or-treating but was a trooper while her brother and sister made their rounds.  The highlight of the evening was trick-or-treating with some friends and making several over-due visits to some old neighbors.  

I love this picture because Audrey was playing dress-up with her friend Avery and forgot she had princess shoes on her feet.

After sprinting up and down the street looking for as many snickers bars as he could get, Avery was excited someone was handing out water as a treat.
