State Science Olympiad - Colorado

Our journey with Science Olympiad has thankfully come to a close.  Is was so much work!  However, this is the first time I have seen Avery walk away from a competition with pride and a sense of accomplishment.  At the state competition he placed 3rd in Experimental Design and 2nd in Dynamic Planet.

Rising Stars Music Festival

Avery participated in the Rising Stars Music Festival in Denver this past April.  He took part in the competition last year and decided to give it a go this year.  His hopes were to make the finals, but unfortunately he did not.  Regardless, he did make the Music Theory Honor Roll and played well during the competition.  There are so many good pianists at this competition that you walk away in awe of the sheer talent of people so very young.  Not sure where piano will take us, but for now we are happy to enjoy the journey.

Happy 16th Anniversary to us!

Shane and I have been married for 16 years!  We are so very lucky to have traveled to so many different parts of the world, been able to meet so many funny, wonderful, and brilliant people during those travels, and to have been blessed with 4 wonderful children in those 16 years together.  To celebrate we headed to Denver for some dining at Larimer Square and a trip to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for the show Aladdin with our 3 older children in tow.  Cheers to us!

Audrey's 1st Communion

Audrey had her 1st Communion on April 22nd at the Cadet Chapel at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.  Father DeGuzman was wonderful with Audrey and made the ceremony intimate and special for both Audrey and our family.  Being able to have her 1st Communion at the Cadet Chapel was on my bucket list for Colorado Springs and I am so happy that we were able to do so.  Not only is the chapel a gorgeous chapel, but the military influence made everything fitting as we approach the tail end of Shane's military career.  I am grateful to Father DeGuzman for performing the ceremony, as his jovial spirit, appreciation for homeschoolers, and love for his profession & religion were so very apparent.  A special thanks to Mimi and Papa for making the trip to C. Springs to be part of Audrey's special day.  Congratulations Audrey!
